Before the TV show came to be, there was a documentary done. This showcased "Nev" and his online relationship with Megan. During this online relationship, Nev discovers that some things just DON'T add up. There were songs that Megan had sent that he later discovered weren't her, but were taken from another individual that had posted them on YouTube.
Long story short...There were many more lies that were soon discovered. And Megan turned out to be a woman named Angela.
Following this documentary, Nev joined up with MTV to do the show Catfish.
I will have to admit, I love the show...but some of the reactions and results just don't feel realistic. How many males wouldn't be mad and ready to ground and pound when realizing that that beautiful girl they were falling for, was actually a gay male? Come on! Let's get real here.. When I watch this show (which I DVR so that I won't miss an episode), I want to see REAL reactions, REAL results and REAL stories. I mean, These things DO happen. It IS real.
I encourage you to check out the show..It may be something you find interesting, and you may learn some things while watching it. If anything, at least you can walk away with some warning signs to be on look out for if you are speaking with an internet catch.
